Abiy Zewdu (PhD)

Dr. Abiy Zewdu Agegnehu is an accomplished Assistant Professor of English Language Teaching (ELT) and Child Reading Development at Hawassa University, Ethiopia. With 20 years of experience in teaching English at various levels, he is a highly respected teacher educator, researcher, material developer, teacher trainer, and training consultant.

As an academic, Dr. Abiy teaches courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels, advises students, and conducts research in ELT. His research outputs have been published in numerous peer-reviewed international journals, showcasing his expertise in the field. He has also participated in various ELT profession skills and proficiency improvement initiatives at national and regional levels.
As a consultant, trainer and training advisor, Dr. Abiy has worked with prominent organizations such as the British Council, LINK Community Development, American Institute for Research, IIRR, EDA and Peace Corps Ethiopia. He is the Manager of the EELCoP project and Content Specialist at EDiT Educational Service Ethiopia.

Dr. Abiy is also a dedicated community servant, serving as the President of Smart Edge English Language Professionals Association (SEELPA) in Ethiopia and leading the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) at Sankofa International School Hawassa. His dedication to his profession and commitment to community service make him a respected figure in his field.
