Memhir Meskelu

Deputy Director and Teacher Trainer

Memhir Meskelu is an English teacher and teacher educator. He is also serving the centre as the Deputy Director.

He has been working in different institutions since obtaining a Bachelor of Education in English 1999 from Kotebe College of Teachers’ Education and he has always been passionate about supporting learners of varied age range with their English.

Besides he has got a teaching qualification (CELTA) from Cambridge English Language Assessment, a certificate in TESOL Methodology from the University of Maryland and a certificate in Teaching English to Young Learners from the University of George Mason.

In addition, he is a member of Ethiopian English Language Professionals’ Association and he is currently serving as a secretary. He is also a member of TESOL International, which is the largest professional organization for teachers of English as a second or foreign language.

Working for the Teaching Centre at the British Council for the last five years, for instance, he taught General English, IELTS COACH, Primary Plus, interpersonal communication skills, and business writing Skills. While delivering these courses, he has learnt to be sensitive to cultural differences, communicate with everyone he was working with, act professionally and respond positively to any guidance and feedback provided to him.

In general, he is passionate about teaching and supporting young learners and adults come to love the act of learning English and other related courses.
